To be honest, Pinocchio looks really crap.
All right, since nothing really important happened these days, I want to talk about a trip I plan for this Saturday. It is at a place called Treasure Hill(寶藏巖) in Gonnguan(公館), Taipei.
Treasure Hill’s history can be dated back to 18 century. When Ching dynasty ruled Taiwan, there was an old temple located at Treasure Hill. Since then Treasure Hill became local people’s religious center. According to records, the temple had two major repairs in 1791 and 1823. It is almost as old as United States.
When KMT fell back to Taiwan in around 1960, KMT’s soldiers fled to Treasure Hill and set up many unauthorized buildings. Because its disorder and messy, the government once planed to tear down the whole district. Luckily, under residents’ and organizations’ pleading, Taipei’s government confirmed Treasure Hill as the official monument and began to transform the mess into a art center.
After 3 years repair and investment, Treasure Hill will be reopened to public this Saturday. There will be artists, accessory market and free concert. I am really looking forward to see what it is like now.
The New York Times once wrote a tour guild which mentioned Treasure Hill. If anyone is interested, you can find the article here (but it is merely three lines at the bottom).
BTW, when KMT fell back to Taiwan, they brought approximately 3,600 tons of gold to Taiwan. Because nobody actually knows where the gold was hided, I always want to write a novel about it. Treasure Hill should be one of the most important elements in my novel.
